Owen Thompson Dredge
Owen Thompson Dredge was born on the 21st February 1979. A lonely and self absorbed boy, he could be found reading books alone in a corner. The more he read, the more he dreamt. The more he dreamt of setting off on a journey. Early attempts went badly, possibly due to the inappropriate clothing and lack of a constant supply of high calorie food. It did, however teach him one thing: that preparation was the key to success. With that in mind, training started in earnest. The plans were now laid out in far greater detail. The idea of a great challenge came about and training commenced. Marathon training brought with it a leaner physique and the altitude sickness became less of a problem through a strict regime of death defying training.

Exposing himself to danger became second nature, and, as the skills were honed, the danger waned, until he could climb to heights that made him peerless in the toddler climbing fraternity. With new found confidence, ideas became more lucid, ambition burned brighter and plans started to become more concrete Training was not enough, he had to toughen up, so the rugby field became the preferred school of hard knocks.

The climbing and Mountaineering training were completed with two years living in the Alps, Training was not all, and learning had to take the fore as well, so he went to study languages at Glasgow University. Now equipped with the capacity to complete the task of a lifetime, there was still the matter of financing the trip, so, after working in a number of Media and Finance related jobs, he became MD of a small cleaning company in London, also setting up Living Factory, a small clothing company and charitable donor.

Unfortunately these days, he is always going running tomorrow, though never ran yesterday, and the strain may well tell. Despite the lack of competitive running experience his language skills and media experience may make up for his short legs.
