Hotel Afritrex is now ready to accept guests....

Have just spent the run up to the weekend um'ing and ah'ing about the best position to mount the rooftent as there are a number of opinions on the right way to do it! Front or back?

At the front allows the vehicle to be moved with the tent up, should we need to in the case of an emergency but being stuck at the front it also acts as a massive air brake, resulting in increased fuel consumption and noise levels, both of which we'll be glad to do without.

Having the tent mounted at the rear above the door will offer some protection from wet weather when the tent is opened, reduce the brick-like aerodynamics of having it at the front while still allowing us to use the front of the roofrack as a floor to sit on, or somewhere to position the camera while we're filming.

Having owned the tent for a couple of months, its now mounted in its final position and is ready for its first test-sleep one night this week.

My nephew Fin decided while we were fitting the tent he'd quite like to come on the expedition so practiced his driving postion!
